Egg Donor Diversity: All Women, All Backgrounds

This information was correct at the time of publishing. It may not reflect our current practices.

At Manchester Donors we strive to raise awareness of the need for egg donors, in particular amongst our region’s ethnic and religious communities. This is because we always need more egg donors of different backgrounds, faiths and cultures.

Many women who have a particular religion or ethnicity are waiting for an egg donor who shares their heritage. Whether they are Black, African Caribbean, Chinese, Asian or Jewish, the desire to use an egg donor of the same background or religion can mean a long wait until someone comes forward to donate.

Infertility and all its causes – whether medical or age-related - affects women of all ethnicities and religions. We want to be able to help everyone who comes to us for treatment with donor eggs, immediately with no waiting list. We want to ensure no one is prevented or delayed from having a family because of their wish to continue their family heritage.

If you’re interested in egg donation but have religious or cultural concerns, you can be assured that at Manchester Donors, we’re highly sensitive to the needs of our egg donors in respect to their individual faiths and beliefs.

Every woman who donates to us is unique with her own individual needs, and through bespoke and tailored care we ensure a positive and rewarding egg donation journey for all women who choose to donate to us.

Our outstanding care of our egg donors is why we’re the only egg donor clinic in the North to be awarded Centre of Excellence status by the National Gamete Donation Trust (NGDT). It’s your guarantee that you’ll be treated with the dignity and respect you deserve.

If you’re aged 18-35, in good health and with no serious medical history, you could be an egg donor with us. Altruistic egg donors receive £750 compensation per donation cycle, and you’ll be taken care of every step of the way by our dedicated Donation Team, as well as receiving implications counselling about the many different aspects of egg donation.

If you need IVF yourself, but are willing to also be an egg donor, you can alternatively get a private cycle of IVF with us at a heavily subsidised rate through our egg-sharing scheme.

Find out more about the process of egg donation and egg donor criteria. If you have any questions, our Donation Team is happy to help. Call us on 0161 300 2734 for an informal, no obligation chat. If you’d like to apply to be an egg donor, complete our initial online application form and we’ll come back to you.
