Many egg donors donate their eggs for completely altruistic reasons. Simply, they want to help others have a family, and give them the hope of a child. But altruism alone isn’t always enough.

It’s why the HFEA is currently reviewing expenses payments – limited to £250 - made to both sperm and egg donors. Some say increasing the sum would encourage more women to be egg donors.
