Second-time Egg Donors: All About Donating Eggs Again

This information was correct at the time of publishing. It may not reflect our current practices.

Did you know that many women who donate eggs to us decide they wish to do so again?

Because of our exceptional donor care and personal support, many of our egg donors wish to continue helping others to have a family if they can.

Here’s what you need to know about donating eggs again:

Personal choice

Donating eggs more than once is not mandatory. It is wonderful that women do wish to be second or third-time egg donors, but you are only required to have one cycle of egg donation when you become a Manchester Donors egg donor.

We will check you are suitable

Even if you have successfully donated eggs before, we will still need to perform screening checks and tests to make sure you are fit to donate again. Some women find they cannot donate again because of medical issues that have occurred since they last donated, or there have been changes to health and lifestyle.

We will assess the risks to you

Although we can effectively reduce your risk of side-effects such as Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome through monitoring and personalised medication protocols, we still need to assess whether donating eggs will affect your health or wellbeing this time.

A case-by-case basis

Our doctors will decide if you can donate eggs again, in consultation with you. You will also have counselling again, to talk through what donation means to you and why you wish to donate again.
