Tell us a bit about yourself and who you are as a person.

I'm 25 years old, non-binary and a very empathic and caring person. I'm covered in tattoos, and I also love to travel. I currently don't have children of my own, but being in a same-sex relationship, I know we will have our challenges when the time comes, which is a big part of wanting to donate, as I would like to make someone else's journey a little easier.

How did you hear about egg donation?

My partner's Mum's friend was having fertility issues, which was a lightbulb moment for me. My partner and I, along with her mum and friend, all chatted it through, and I realised the next step for me would be finding a suitable place to donate.

Why did you choose to donate with us at Manchester Donors?

I researched egg donation, and Manchester Donors clinic was one of the first ones I saw. After looking at some other places, I knew the clinic would be perfect for me.

What did you enjoy most about donating?

I can honestly say the whole process was not what I was expecting, especially as someone who is non-binary. From the first email I received, my pronouns were respected, and I was treated, over email, phone and in person, with such kindness. It made me realise very quickly that this was the clinic for me. The team was great, compassionate and always very quick to respond.

Is there anything that you would say to your recipient?

Thank you for choosing me. I really hope your journey to completing your family is now not just a dream; it's now a reality.

Did you get the care you needed every step of the way?

Yes, absolutely; throughout the whole process, I was well-informed and looked after. I honestly can't fault the team!

Would you donate with us again? If yes, please say why?

Most definitely! I hope to donate as many times as possible.

What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a donor?

Go for it! Make sure this step is not just right for your present self but your future self. The process is very straightforward, with the opportunity to change people's lives for the better! Such a rewarding thing to do!

Tell us a bit about yourself, who you are as a person?

I am a very caring and loving person who likes to take care of others. I always put other people’s needs first, especially my children. I can be very shy and don’t like big crowds. I prefer a night in over a night out, and I love spending my time with family and friends.

How did you hear about egg donation?

I initially saw an advertisement post on Facebook, and I thought about it a lot after. Then about six months I contacted the clinic and got the ball rolling.

Why did you choose to donate with us at Manchester Donors?

I did a lot of research on egg donation before choosing a clinic, I found a lot of my questions answered were on the Manchester donor’s website, and it was really helpful, and it was the closest clinic for me.

What did you enjoy most about donating?

I was under full sedation for my first donation, so I most enjoyed being told how many eggs had been collected; they got ten this time.

Then my second donation, I was awake*, and it was truly amazing to watch the procedure take place and then be told they had collected 16 eggs was wonderful.

* Our egg collection procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and oral sedation.

Is there anything that you would say to your recipient?

I am truly happy that I can help make your dreams come true. I have a nephew born through donation, and so I know first-hand the impact that someone‚ as a donation can do on a family in need. Everyone deserves the chance of a family, and I’m so grateful that I was in a position to be able to help.

Did you get the care you needed every step of the way?

I definitely received all the care I needed. Everything was explained in detail, even down to showing me the correct way to self-inject the hormones, which I was quite nervous about as I had a needle phobia. Still, I can safely say I’m well over the fear of needles from now on as it was really easy to master.

Would you donate with us again, if yes, please say why?

I would 100% donate again. I loved the experience, and I love the feeling of knowing I’m helping those in need. The staff were brilliant, kind and helpful. They kept me calm. All in all, it was a wonderful and interesting experience for me.

What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a donor?

Do it! It’s such a rewarding feeling that you get from it, and it’s something that not many people can do, your physically giving others the chance to have a family of their own; what else could possibly be more rewarding than that!

Is there anything additional you would like to share with us?

Your team is amazing! The number of lives you must change by doing what you do is incredible, and I am proud to have helped with that not once but twice.

Tell us a bit about yourself, who you are as a person?

I am a mum of two amazing children. They are my world. I’m very grateful for the life I have. I am always learning and growing, trying to be a better version of myself. I am very passionate about mental health, and if I have the ability to help someone, then I will. I want to help make the world a better place for my kids.

How did you hear about egg donation?

I was watching something about sperm donation, and I thought I wonder what egg donation entails.

So, I searched the internet, and Manchester Fertility came up. After reading about the clinic and what egg donation involves, I thought about whether I could do this.

I remembered when I was younger, and all I wanted was to have children. If I were unable to have children myself, I would have been heartbroken. I remember the feeling of my baby moving inside my tummy, what a magical feeling that was, a feeling that I could possibly give to other women. I knew then it was something that I wanted to do.

Why did you choose to donate with us at Manchester Donors?

I read all about the clinic, and I thought it sounded like a really nice place. I wasn’t wrong. I would recommend it to anyone. The staff are lovely, and the place runs like clockwork.

What did you enjoy most about donating?

I loved the whole process, and I find it all very fascinating. I’m so grateful to be able to help.

Is there anything that you would say to your recipient?

Thank you for choosing me.

Did you get the care you needed every step of the way?

The care I received was excellent. Everyone is very attentive, and there is always someone there to help if needed.

Would you donate with us again, if yes, please say why?

I am just about to donate for the fourth time. I have to stop after this due to my age; however, if I could carry on donating, I would because as long as I have eggs, I have the chance to change someone’s life.

What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a donor?

It is an amazing opportunity to help make someone’s dreams come true. The process is really easy with a great team of supportive professionals. I would not go anywhere else.

Tell us a bit about yourself, who you are as a person?

I love anything outdoors. I grew up in a small village and still live there now with my partner and dog. We enjoy anything outdoors; whether it be hiking, swimming in the lakes, paddle boarding, wild camping or biking, anything outdoors makes me happy. I am a support worker for children with disabilities and do reflexology. I am lucky to love both my jobs very much as they are rewarding to make people feel better. I have a close group of friends I have grown up with, and I am close with my family.

How did you hear about egg donation?

I had decided that I didn't want a child of my own but felt that there are people out there who really do and may struggle. I did a bit of research and discovered egg donation. I listened to some podcasts, read articles etc. and really made sure it was something I wanted to do. I then decided to go for the first step of consultation and tests to see if I was eligible. After my first donation, I decided to go through with another donation.

Why did you choose to donate with us at Manchester Donors?

I live in a rural area, and there weren't many places nearby, so Manchester was one nearest. After some research and reading reviews, I felt comfortable and happy to choose Manchester Donors.

What did you enjoy most about donating?

The email of saying I had a match. It was a good feeling to think someone had chosen me based on my profile without meeting me.

Is there anything that you would say to your recipient?

To just wish them a life of happiness and health

Did you get the care you needed every step of the way?

Yes, all the staff were amazing. I always felt so well looked after

Would you donate with us again, if yes, please say why?

I have already donated twice, and I was very pleased with the number of eggs retrieved. The whole process never put me off, though, and I enjoyed every step.

What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a donor?

Enjoy the process and learning about your body and what it can achieve.
